Listen…Speak…Act

Listen with curiosity. You may learn something new.

Speak with honesty. You won’t have to worry about covering up your lie later…and it makes life infinitely simpler.

Act with integrity. You will be trustworthy.

I want to say something about honesty. We have to be honest with ourselves first in order to speak it. I used to think that I was honest when I wasn’t because I didn’t even know what I really thought. From as early as I can remember, I was always trying to fit who I am into what I thought others expected from me, or into what I thought was the way to being liked…loved. Spend enough time doing that and you’ll get lost in the chaos of who seems to want what and what seems to work for others. And I did…get lost.

It wasn’t until a person screamed into my face “Tell me your truth!!!!” that I even questioned what my “truth” even was. Thus began a couple decades search to live my VerbalRemedies.com tagline (of now 30+ years): “Be who you are…it is so much more than enough!”

Admittedly, it is purposeful action that keeps me on track. I meditate daily, practice yoga, remind myself of the gifts of my life (shifting the focus to what I have rather than what I don’t have), and check in daily to be sure I am giving back in some way for all those gifts of my life.

That is why I am writing today.

I’ve learned so much in this truth of myself quest and continue to learn. In doing so, my life is happier, richer, healthier, and feels more valuable. This makes me want to share the things I’ve learned and keep learning, to help make your road a little easier, whittling down the teachings of so many enlightened teachers.

So please keep reading. I am committing to writing a little something each week, even if it is only the Verbal Remedy posted on this blog and on LinkedIn.

We are in this together.
